Write a Letter to Your Future Self

Have you ever read an old letter someone wrote to you and reminisced the first time you read it? That nostalgic feeling you get by holding something that’s an artifact of an important moment or event.

Well what if you wrote a letter to your future self? Something that can remind you of the past but will reach you in the present?

If you haven’t done this already, I think today is the day to start!

Writing letters I hope isn’t a foreign concept to anyone, it could be about anything and it doesn’t always serve a specific purpose. Some people write them for fun and some do it when they need something done.

Last year I found out about a website that’s specifically for writing letters to yourself that you will get back in a year or so (you get to choose the duration). It’s really simple and quick.

You basically just type in a letter to your future self and you give the website your email so they can send it back to you on the date you pick. And that’s it.

It might sound boring when I explain it but trust me it’s a cool experience. I wrote a letter to myself last year and I got it back a few days ago. Seeing how much has changed with my personality/life is shocking but also eye opening. I realized how much I grew as a person in a matter of a year.

If this sounds cool to you and you want to give it a try here is the link to the website: www.futureme.org

If you don’t want to do it digitally I recommend writing your letter down on some paper and sealing it in an envelope. After that you can just hide it somewhere and write it down in your calendar on the day you want to open it.

I hope this encourages people to try this, especially if it’s a new thing to them. And with that, this is all I have for this week so please remember to stay safe!
