Throwback Thursday Tunes

Are you stressed from school and homework? College applications? Figuring out your purpose? Sometimes, we all need to take a breath and step back. It’s been said over a dozen times that listening to music can help calm you down (especially slow, classical music). Although not all of us are into that type of genre. When we take a step back and look at our past years (even though we still may be teens), we think back to the music that peaked from the 2010’s.

Thinking back to music from the 2010’s, the artists that usually pop up to mind are Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Lady Gaga, and etc. Even thinking about the songs could make you feel nostalgic and think, “These were the good old days,” like our elders tend to say whenever they talk about their childhood.

To fulfill your nostalgic yearn to travel back to the past, here is a list of a few songs dedicated to cater the mainstream music taste from the 2010’s.

  1. Grenade - Bruno Mars

Grenade by Bruno Mars was released in 2010, in his debut studio album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, which featured other hit songs like Just The Way You Are and The Lazy Song. Whether you’re feeling lovesick about a lover or want a song to put you in your feels, Grenade is the one.

  1. Bad Romance - Lady Gaga

Bad Romance by Lady Gaga was released in 2009, a bit ahead of the 2010’s era but still peaked throughout. Another hit album, The Fame Monster was a reissue of her debut studio album that featured more bops like Alejandro and Telephone. This song is perfect if you feel like bringing out your inner “monster” to dance.

  1. Rocketeer by Far East Movement (ft. Ryan Tedder)

Rocketeer was released in 2010, by the Far East Movement, featuring Ryan Tedder of another popular band, OneRepublic (famous for more 2010 hits like Counting Stars). Fun fact, the original feature was supposed to be Bruno Mars! Rocketeer was made as a “re-make” of Like a G-6, another popular electronic hit by Far East Movement. If you feel you need a song to listen to as you look out the window on a drive to wherever, Rocketeer is the perfect one.
