Updated: Sep 17, 2020

The Lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic has presented us with a lot more spare time on our hands than we had before now and most public entertainment places like amusement parks are still not safe to visit, some people might actually feel like they are trapped at home with not much to do entertain them because of this current situation. This post is dedicated to and created for anyone who feels this way. I will be listing ten hobbies that I personally think are great to use all that spare time to try, and who knows?, You just might fall completely in love with at least one of them.

1. Computer Programming(Coding)

What is Computer Programming?

According to Wikipedia,

Computer programming is the process of designing and building an executable computer program to accomplish a specific computing result or to perform a specific task.

Simply put, it can be said to be the process of creating and compiling instructions that a computer or machine needs to carries out specific tasks and functions.

It is also the use of computer programming languages to give computers and machines instructions on what actions to perform.

What is Coding?

Coding is the use of computer programming to create computer programs, apps and websites. It also allows robots and machines to carry out tasks. There are a lot of computer programming languages used for coding, here are a few popular examples; HTML, Python, Java, JavaScript, App Inventor etc.

But enough with the definitions and explanations now we get to the interesting bit, have you ever thought of any really cool app idea or wished you could have your own awesome website, well with coding those thoughts and wishes can become a reality.

Now I know there are the stereotypes that only people who are really smart or are nerds and geeks can code but they are exactly just that, just stereotypes, thus they are not always true, you can as well be a famous sports person or a popular social influencer or figure and know how to code, the fact that knowing how to code does not need to restrict you from having other really cool interests is what makes it so amazing.

Coding as a matter of fact can be as easy and fun as watching your favorite movie or playing your favourite game, if you have the right mindset.

To crown it all, there are so many great opportunities and possibilities that come with knowing how to code, so you can go ahead and try to start learning today, you just might really like it.
